Long before Dracula's name became known throughout the world, the people of Transylvania spoke of another legend. They called him The Shadow King.
According to ancient tales, he was neither fully man nor spirit. He traveled silently between the sacred mountains of Bucegi, the ancient Dacian sanctuaries of Sarmizegetusa, the mighty Corvin Castle, and the dark towers of Bran.
Some believed he possessed the secret knowledge of the Dacian priests, guardians of forgotten wisdom and celestial mysteries. Others claimed he protected a hidden treasure buried deep beneath the Carpathian Mountains — a treasure said to contain the secrets of an ancient civilization lost to time.
On moonlit nights, villagers reported strange lights floating above mountain peaks, whispers carried by the wind through ruined fortresses, and mysterious shadows moving through castle corridors long after visitors had departed.
No one knows whether the Shadow King truly existed. Perhaps he was a forgotten ruler. Perhaps a guardian of ancient secrets. Or perhaps he was only a legend born from the mist-covered forests and mountains of Transylvania.
Yet even today, when the fog settles over the castles and the Carpathians disappear beneath the clouds, many locals still say that the spirit of the Shadow King watches over the Land of Legends.
